Paul Kieve is an English professional illusionist and whose consulting work for both stage and screen has contributed to changing how magical special effects in productions are approached. His work for the stage production of "The Invisible Man" holds the world record for the most effects in one show.

Early life

Kieve was born in Woodford, North-East London, in 1967[1] and started magic at 10 years of age after receiving a "World of Illusion" magic set as a birthday gift. He gave his first public performance in 1984 at the age of 16 in a Sade video. Over the next year, he competed for "Young Magician of the Year"; (he was runner up) and started appearing on television.

Career

The Zodiac Brothers was formed in 1986 as a double act between Kieve and Lawrence Leyton. After five years, the act finished its run at Magic Castle in Hollywood. Kieve continues to do solo work at venues such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the Palais De Congress.

Kieve is a member of London's Magic Circle, one of the largest magician groups in the world. Most notably his illusions and magic effects were seen on the West End stage in Lord of the Rings Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Published works

A fantasy-biography of sorts including various magic tricks and backstories on some of the world's most famous magicians, along with an introduction by actor Daniel Radcliffe, who Kieve coached during the filming of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
